A one-vehicle accident late Thursday night sent a Lenox man to the hospital.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 11:03 p.m. a 2015 Chrysler 200, driven by James J. Villarreal, 21, of Lenox, was northbound on Highway 25 attempting to turn east on 240th Street. Villarreal said he was traveling too fast to make the turn and lost control. The Chrysler entered the north ditch and rolled onto its top.

Villarreal told officers he was traveling approximately 45-55 mph. A witness traveling behind the Chrysler confirmed the speed and observed it attempting to turn and rolling into the ditch.

Villarreal complained of a head injury and requested to be checked by medics. He was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health.

Damage to the Chrysler was estimated at $10,000.
