Creston Police: Teen charged with possession on school grounds

Cory W. McKinney, 51, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:37 p.m. July 16, in the 100 block of West Taylor Street on the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:13 p.m. officers observed McKinney driving a 1998 Harley Davidson Sportster on Taylor Street. McKinney is known to have a barred license.

A traffic stop was conducted and McKinney was confirmed to be barred.

McKinney was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Eli Beckett, 18, of Creston, was taken into custody July 16, on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and distributing drugs near a school.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 6:34 p.m. Beckett was found to be in possession of THC cartridges while on the grounds of the Early Childhood Center in the 900 block of North Elm Street. Beckett possessed the cartridges with the intent to distribute them and offered them to a 14-year-old female while on the ECC grounds.

Beckett admitted to selling marijuana and THC cartridges to several minors within the past month.

Beckett was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until seen by the magistrate.
