Julie C. Valasek, 53, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:40 a.m. June 29, at her residence on the charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:26 a.m. officers responded to the 1000 block of Crest Drive for a dispute.
Valasek told officers she and the victim had been involved in an argument but denied any physical contact had taken place. The victim was observed to have red marks on both sides of his neck. He told officers as he was attempting to leave the residence during the arguement and Valasek grabbed him by the neck and applied pressure. The scratch marks were consistent with marks made by fingernails scratching as pressure was applied around the neck.
Valasek was transported to the Adams County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance on a promise to appear.

Jayden R. V. Peavler, 21, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:37 a.m. June 30, in the 600 block of Highway 34 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, second offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:28 a.m. a 2006 Buick Lucerne was observed in the old Walmart parking lot with a the door open and a male asleep behind the wheel.
Contact was made with the male, identified as Peavler, and the odor of marijuana was detected. When asked, Peavler made statements about there being marijuana in the car.
Officers located three bags containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana, paraphernalia and two roaches.
Peavler has has a prior possession of marijuana conviction.
Peavler was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.
