Union County: Driver found to be more than four times the legal limit

Amber N. Shields, 39, of Des Moines, was taken into custody June 22, on a Union County warrant for the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 5:19 p.m. Jan. 23, a female, identified as Shields, was found by first responders passed out behind the wheel of a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan at 240th Street and Pole Road. The Dodge was also in the opposite lane of traffic.

Shields required immediate medical attention and was flown by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital. A blood specimen was taken from Shields which provided a test result indicating Shields to have a BAC of .343%.

Shields was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting 10% of a $1,000 bond.
