A thrown water bottle and loose rock in a parking lot are blamed for a Monday accident in Creston.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 10:41 a.m. a 2016 Ford Mustang, driven by Rayden P. Mullin, 16, of Orient, was hit by a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Roberto V. Mares, 52, of Creston, as it entered the Hardee’s parking lot.
Mares said he was following the Mustang because a water bottle was thrown from the Mustang at the PT Cruiser. As the vehicles entered the lot, the PT Cruiser was following too close and slid into the Mustang due to loose rock in the area of the collision.
An individual in the Mustang did admit a water bottle hit the PT Cruiser that was thrown from the Mustang but said it was accidental.
Mares was cited for following too close and careless driving.
Damage to the Mustang was estimated at $2,000 and damage to the PT Cruiser was estimated at $1,000.
