A Creston man was taken to the hospital for injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Union County.
According to a Union County Sheriff’s Office report, at approximately 10:16 a.m. Wednesday, a 1968 John Deere tractor towing a hay trailer and rake, driven by Levi W. Buxton, 44, of Creston, was northbound in the 1300 block of Cherry Street Road. preparing to turn west at 1331 Cherry Street Road.
A 2004 Freightliner semi, driven by Derrick J. McLuckie, 27, of Stratford, was also northbound, behind the tractor. The tractor began to turn west at 1331 Cherry Street Road and the semi attempted to overtake it.
The semi struck the back tire of the tractor, causing the gooseneck portion of the hay trailer to come off the tractor and strike Buxton in the back.
McLuckie was cited for unsafe passing. Buxton was transported by ambulance to Greater Regional Health.
Damage to the tractor was estimated at $15,000 and damage to the semi was estimated at $3,000.
