Shawn J. Parmenter, 47, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:53 a.m. Oct. 25, at Cedar Street and Highway 34 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine, first offense.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1 a.m. a traffic stop was conducted on a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Parmenter, who was unable to provide proof of insurance and appeared nervous during the interaction.
K9 Midge of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office was deployed for a free air sniff. Midge gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics coming from the truck.
A probable cause search was conducted and a baggie containing a crystalline substance was located in the glove box. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. Parmenter admitted to knowing the baggie was in the truck and said he forgot to get rid of it.
Parmenter was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after positing $1,000 cash or surety bond.
