COLUMN: August happenings

I wanted to start this month by sharing some information that hopefully you are already aware of, but for those that don’t know hopefully you will find this helpful. Each week the Chamber shares on our Facebook page and to Chamber members a calendar of community events and Activities taking place in and around Creston for the coming week and month. Our hope is that this will make it easier for folks to keep updated on what is happening in Creston. Just another reason to follow the Chamber on Facebook.

Upcoming August Activities

The Creston Farmers Market will be open Mondays through August 25 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The Union County Historical Village will be open until Sept. 1 and then again on Sept. 20 during Balloon Days.

47th Annual Creston/Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days

Mark Sept. 19, 20 and 21 on your calendar as the dates for this year’s 47th Annual Creston/Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days. There will once again be the Friday Night Fun Flight on Sept. 19, weather permitting. In addition to the 30-plus balloons that will be participating in the event, there will be the annual parade of bands, as well as the craft show and flea market, along with tethered balloon rides, the night glow, again weather permitting, and much more. Information on these and other activities are available at the Chamber or on the Chamber website at www.crestoniowachamber.com or Chamber Facebook page.

The 2025 Hot Air Balloon T-shirts, sweatshirts (pre-order only) and pins will soon be ready for purchase at the Creston Chamber of Commerce office - 208 W. Taylor St./Hwy 34 West. Please watch for details.

Hi-Five Honor

The following individuals received the Hi-Five Honor in August – Daisy Redd, Casey’s on Sumner and Nicolas Case, Pizza Ranch. Congratulations to both of you.

The Hi-Five for Service allows us to recognize those who make shopping and doing business in Creston a rewarding and positive experience. Please contact the Chamber to honor a business or individual with a Hi-Five.

Gold Star Business Honored

The Chamber honored PCSB Bank – 501 W. Taylor St./Hwy 34 W - this month as the August Gold Star Business in Creston. They were nominated by their fellow Crestonians because of the appearance both inside and out of their building. Congratulations.

July Yards of the Month

The Image Enhancement Committee would like to acknowledge and congratulate the following yards that were honored as the July Yards of the Month:
