Sandra K. Lester

Sandra Lester, 84, of Creston, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr. Per Sandra’s wishes, no public services will be held. Burial will be in the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery near Van Meter.

Sandra Kay Lester, daughter of Robert Hager Lester and Nola Irene Roberts, was born on April 1, 1941, in Kopperston, West Virginia. Sandra was educated at Kopperston High School and graduated with the class of 1958.

On Sept. 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Howard Allen Lester. Sandra spent her working career as a director of crew training in the aviation industry. She was employed at Gensco Cargo in Nashville, Tennessee, Iasco Air Services, Southern Air Transport and Capitol Cargo, Inc.

She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Lane and Allen (Leesa) Lester, both of Creston; her brother Tommy Lester of Smyrna, Tennessee; sister-in-law Malinda Lester of Smyrna; three grandchildren: Daniel (Lindsey) Lane, Brian (April) Holloway and Shawn (Shyanne) Holloway; seven great-grandchildren: Atalynn, Brynlee and Ryder Holloway and Hunter, Lyla, Presley and Rhett Lane and numerous other extended family.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; husband Allen and brother Doug Lester.
