George J. Spencer, 81, of Creston, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Greater Regional Health.

George J. Spencer, 81, of Creston, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate. Family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m., prior to services. Private family burial will be at a later date.

George Jr. Spencer was born May 20, 1944, to George Spencer and Eythelyn Lattig. He attended school in Patterson and graduated from Winterset High School in 1961.

On Sept. 28, 1996, he was united in marriage to Juanita Rinner in Winterset and was a resident of Winterset most of his life. He farmed with Earl Binns, did construction, was a farmhand for Holiday Farms, custodian at Parker Welding in Winterset and a groundskeeper for Winterset Parks and Rec. George was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset.

Survivors include his wife Juanita Spencer of Creston; four children: David (Tammy) McKinney of Lorimor, Terry (Jennie) McKinney of Creston, Cory McKinney of Creston and Tina McKinney (Wade) of Wathena, Kansas; his brothers, Bill Spencer of Winterset and Gary (Donna) Spencer of Winterset; his sisters: Marlene (Joe) Saxton of Winterset, Kathy (Walter) Trump of Lake of the Ozarks, and Delores (Tom) Losee of Winterset; sister-in-law Linda Spencer of Winterset; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold (Joane) Spencer and Jerry Spencer along with his sister Joyce.
