Jeannie Woosley, 74, of Creston, died Jan. 23, 2025, at Greater Regional Health in Creston.

Jeannie Woosley, 74, of Creston, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Services will be livestreamed by accessing a link at www.powersfh.com. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Pastor Rick Titus will officiate. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Jeannie Lou (Black) Woosley was born Dec. 30, 1950, to Clara Ellen (Grimm) Black and Orval Albertus Black II in Osceola. She grew up in Osceola, graduating from high school in 1969. On July 16, 1976, Jeannie was united in marriage to Edward Eugene Woosley in Maryville, Missouri. They settled in Creston, where they continued to make their home and raise their family. Jeannie worked for Lil Duffer, Bernings and later, Wellman Dynamics for almost 30 years in rotary file and as a core maker, retiring in 2013.

Jeannie enjoyed doing puzzles, crocheting, cross stitching and latch hook. She loved to go to the casino in Osceola and would play the penny machines all night long. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed going to any sporting event that her grandchildren participated in, and she loved to cook and bake. She loved planting flowers in the spring and watching them grow. Her favorite flower was the iris.

Jeannie and Ed were part of a card club with three other couples that met once a month to play pitch, and had done so since 1976. Jeannie was a member of the Red Hat Society and the St. Johns United Congregational Church in Creston.

Jeannie is survived by her husband, Ed Woosley of Creston; her children, Ed “Butch” (Tammy) Woosley of Amsterdam, New York, Tonya (Sam) Elkins of Springfield, Oregon, Travis (Josie) Woosley of Johnston, Misty Fitzgerald (Jason Schlapia) of Orient and Adam (Timber) Woosley of Orient, her brothers Orval “Butch” (Pam) Black III of Osceola and Gregory Black (Toni Barber) of Osceola; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents.
