Woollums, 37, of Creston, was taken into custody 4:56 p.m. May 15, at Union and Pine streets on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver over 5 grams, under 5 kg - methamphetamine; interference with official acts; driving while suspended; fail to affix drug tax stamp – 7 or more grams; OWI, first offense; three counts of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense and possession of contraband on or in a correctional facility.

While being held in the Union County Jail, he was served on a Union County warrant for the charges of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense; possession of controlled substance, second offense and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense, stemming from a February traffic stop.

According to a Creston Police Report, at approximately 4:46 p.m. May 15, a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was observed being driven by Woollums at Union and Pine streets. Woollumms is known to have a suspended driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with Woollums, who had bloodshot, watery eyes, large heat bumps on the back of his tongue and a green film on his tongue, all of which are consistent with someone who has recently smoked marijuana. Woollums was observed to have lethargic movements, low mumbled speech and droopy eyelids.

The odor of marijuana was detected coming from the Malibu. Woollums told officers he had just been somewhere people were smoking. He made admissions to smoking marijuana shortly before being stopped. He initially stated he had used methamphetamine the previous night but later made admissions to using the substance sometime around noon that day. He had fresh puncture marks on his arms consistent with intravenous methamphetamine use.

After Woollums was confirmed to be a suspended driver, he was taken into custody, handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle while a probable cause search of the Malibu was conducted. During the search, officers located two syringes, one of which was full and field tested positive for methamphetamine; a baggie with a crystalline substance residue inside and the end of a marijuana joint, which field tested positive for marijuana.

Woollums made statements to the liquid in the syringe being methamphetamine and to smoking marijuana before being stopped. Later, after being transported to the law enforcement center, Woollums told officers he had a second baggie containing methamphetamine concealed in his underwear.

After Woollums was released to the Union County Jail, officers located a wet, folded dollar bill in the backseat of the patrol car Woollums was transported in. The bill contained a white powder substance that field tested positive for cocaine. Officers reviewed footage from the vehicle and observed Woollums spit the bill out of his mouth and down the right side of his body onto the seat, where officers found it.

While watching the recording of Woollums in the patrol car, officers observed him take both hands and put them down the back of his shorts and underwear. He then spent approximately 25 minutes making movements consistent with someone attempting to further conceal something. Woollums later made statements that he had between a half ounce to an ounce of methamphetamine concealed in his underwear when he was stopped by police and that he had attempted to conceal it in his rectum but said he was unsuccessful. He claimed the baggies dumped out in his underwear but every area where he had been searched, along with his clothing items, contained no methamphetamine.

A search warrant was obtained for Woollum’s body cavities and a computed tomography (CT) scan was done at the hospital which showed a 2cm by 4cm foreign object in his abdomen. Woollums continued to deny there were any drugs inside of him.

On May 16, hospital staff removed a plastic baggie containing a a white crystalline substance, consistent with methamphetamine, weighing 10 grams, from his anal cavity. No tax stamp was affixed to the product.

According to Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement reports, a traffic stop was conducted by the Creston Police Department at 3:55 p.m. Feb. 24, at Prairie and Spruce streets on a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. Woollums was identified as a passenger in the vehicle.

A search warrant was executed on the Malibu and items including methamphetamine, LSD, THC wax and drug paraphernalia were located. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and Woollums was interviewed and released. A warrant was issued for Woollums May 16, for the related charges.

Woollums was transported again to the Union County Jail and held on $60,000 cash or surety bond.
