A second person has been charged with attempted murder in the Aug. 15 shooting of a Creston man.
Kristina G. Marcum, 24, of Creston, who was charged Aug. 23 with intimidation with a dangerous weapon in connection with the shooting, was charged Oct. 2 with attempted murder, a Class B felony, after her initial charge was amended.
Marcum is the girlfriend of Daniel McDowell, the initial person charged with attempted murder the day of the shooting. Creston Police reports state Marcum was contacted by McDowell the morning of the shooting as he was on his way to an apartment the two shared. Marcum retrieved a gun from a closet at the residence and brought it outside, waiving it in front of the shooting victim, before handing it to McDowell. McDowell then used the gun to shoot multiple rounds at the victim who was sitting in a car.
Trial information filed Oct. 2 by Union County Attorney Shane O’Toole, states on or about Aug. 15, in Creston, Union County, Marcum individually, or by joint criminal conduct, without justification, with the intent to cause the death of another, committed an act by which Marcum expected to set in motion a force or chain of events which caused or resulted in the death of another person.
At her Oct. 16 arraignment, Marcum pled not guilty to the charge and waived her right to a speedy trial.
A pretrial has been scheduled for Nov. 22 in Union County District Court.
