Birchard, Carter wed in December ceremony

EL CAJON, California — Heather Lynn Birchard and Curtis Tucker Carter were married 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, overlooking Glorietta Bay at Coronado Community Center in Coronado, California.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven and Linda Birchard of Creston and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo Winey and the late Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Birchard. The groom is the son of Mr. Frank Carter and Ms. Cheryl Tucker and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Tucker and Mr. and Mrs. James Carter.

The Rev. Catherine Crosby officiated the outdoor ceremony.

Maid of honor was Miss Megan Birchard, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Taylor Winey, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Brittany Rielley, Miss Jennifer Grant and Miss Angelica Allen, friends of the bride.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a ruffled, champagne and ivory organza and lace Oleg Cassini gown. The strapless gown featured beaded, Venice lace appliques and a dramatic ruffled skirt with chapel train. The dress was complemented by a beaded veil and hairpiece made from the lace of the bride’s mother’s wedding dress. The bride also wore a pearl necklace worn by her mother and grandmother in their weddings.

The bridesmaids wore dark-green, floor-length chiffon gowns.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of earl gray roses, white hydrangeas, eucalyptus and silver brunia berries. The bridesmaids each carried a hand-tied bouquet of white hydrangeas, seeded eucalyptus and earl gray roses.

Best man was Mr. Michael Marin, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Mr. Christopher Sheppard, brother of the groom, and Mr. Victor Carrillo, Mr. Michael Meza and Mr. Leonard McDaniel, friends of the groom. Ushers were Mr. Jon Birchard, brother of the bride, Mr. Alfred Collins, brother-in-law of the groom, and Mr. Cameron Collins, nephew of the groom.

Ringbearer was Kaiden Carter, son of the bride and groom

Guest book attendants were Mrs. Caroline Collins, sister of the groom, and Christian Collins, nephew of the groom. Gift table attendants were Mrs. Patricia Sheppard, sister-in-law of the groom, and John Sheppard, nephew of the groom.

The groom’s mother hosted a rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding at Barra Barra in the Old Town neighborhood of San Diego, California. An Italian buffet dinner and reception were held immediately after the ceremony and hosted by the bride’s parents at Coronado Community Center.

The bride is a graduate of Creston High School. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science in corporate recreation and wellness. She is currently employed as recreation services supervisor for the City of El Cajon Recreation Department in El Cajon, California.

The groom is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School in San Diego. He is a graduate of Grossmont College in El Cajon and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Art in history from San Diego State University in San Diego. He is currently employed as benefits coordinator for human resources at Sycuan Casino in El Cajon.

The couple reside in El Cajon with their son, Kaiden, and dog, Lambchop.
