JOHNSTON — Leah Ruff and Curtis Maeder were married Nov. 9 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale.
The bride is the daughter of Edmund and Barbara Ruff of Farmersburg. The groom is the son of Roy and Teresa Maeder and grandson of Phyllis Huff, all of Creston, and the late Bill Huff and Earl and Betty Maeder.
The Rev. David Fleming officiated the ceremony.
Main wedding colors were green, yellow and red.
Maid of honor was Katie Ruff, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Hilary Davis and Jessie Pogue, friends of the bride. Personal attendant was Sydney Reardon, friend of the bride.
The bride wore a white Bonny wedding dress.
Best man was Alex Maeder, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Andrew Zellweger and Travis West, friends of the groom. Ushers were Austin Ruff, brother of the bride, and Dillion Roberts, John Sidey and Dan Apperson, friends of the groom.
Music was provided by Ruth Koltookian, aunt of the bride, on piano and organ, Austin Ruff on vocals, Barbara Ruff, mother of the bride, on guitar, Stephanie Koltookian, cousin of the bride, on saxophone and Alyson Nelson, friend of the bride, on French horn.
A reception was held after the ceremony at Hilton Garden Inn in Johnson.
The bride is a 2007 graduate of MFL MarMac High School in Monona. She graduated from Iowa State University in Ames in 2011. She earned a master’s degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in plant breeding and genetics from University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The groom is a 2005 graduate of Orient-Macksburg High School. He earned a degree in agricultural and biosystems engineering from Iowa State University. He is currently employed as senior systems engineer at John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group in Urbandale.
After a honeymoon in Panama, the couple now reside in Johnston.
